BOBA FETT ZX 800 ADIDAS IN BLISTER PACK

These are quite amazing and brilliant. Even thought there’s much disdain for George Lucas, let’s just forget the prequels never happened and go Boba Fett old school. Straight out of the Empire Strikes Back — the very limited edition adidas Originals ZX 800 Boba Fett S.W.s are perfect for hunting down Han Solo. Of course, the shoes come available in the toy-like blister pack.

Wedding ring that projects images

Working with local jeweller Tamrakar, this ring was created for the wedding of Luke Jerram and Shelina Nanji. An engagement ring that tells the story of the couple. In a small opening, you can put up to four slides that are projected through the stone ring with the help of a candle or lantern.

Phone on Board

This design originated from observation of the space around a telephone rather than the telephone itself. People make calls on the telephone and keep pens and post-its by its side to take notes, or they put down the receiver to busily look for stuff to take notes with while they are on a call.

Furniture Made from Shopping Carts

Los Angeles-based artist Ramon Coronado made furniture from shopping carts. He calls the project “Mercado Negro” and his ambition lies in “reclaiming an ordinary, everyday object and transforming it into a whole new object.” At the link, you can see many more pictures, as well as photographs from his workshop as Coronado constructed these pieces.

Wire Frame Motorcycle and Sidecar

Chinese artist Shi Jindian made a wire frame replica of the Chiangjiang 750, a Chinese knock-off of a the classic BMW R71 motorcycle:

Shi Jindian’s sculptures are made of steel, yet they are light, transparent, almost ethereal. After searching for years for “a material that was brand new, completely untraditional”, he settled on steel wires. By trial and error, he learned how to crochet the two-dimensional strands into three-dimensional forms, using tools of his own devising. His wire meshes start out as wrappings around some common object. When the mesh is complete, Shi Jindian destroys or extracts the object, leaving only its steel exoskeleton. The result, he says, is a kind of fiction, a virtual reality that can be walked around and touched. Surrealist René Magritte painted a pipe along with the words: “This is not a pipe.” Shi Jindian does something similar in sculpture, making not-quite-replicas of items from musical instruments to machines.

‘horsey’ by eungi kim

‘horsey’ by eungi kim from korea is one of the shortlisted design entries from more than 3000 participants
in our recent designboom competition, ‘seoul cycle design competition 2010‘, organized in collaboration
with seoul design foundation.

designer’s own words:
‘horsey’ is an attachable bicycle ornament/accessory which makes one’s bicycle look horsey!
the ‘horsey’ package includes wooden ornaments (horsey shape body), metal parts, and screws.
the manual is very simple so that anyone can easily arrange it according to one’s needs.
through this ‘horsey’ project. I wanted to give a special look to bicycles so that people would care
about cycling not only as transportation but also as a lovely pet.

East meets west

East meets West by Tonio de Roover

The East Meets West Sofa measures 950 mm in height and 1600 mm in breath. Weighing a hefty 41kgs, the sofa makes a sculptural presence , certainly not satisfied merely as a utility object.

According to the designer, his creation also symbolizes “a flying carpet that wants to rise from the earth” and the meeting of the Western and Eastern minds.

120 Bikes on a Wall

A bicycle shop in Altlandsberg, Germany advertises their goods with a wall of around 120 bikes mounted on the building’s exterior in lieu of a sign. Pretty, but what do you think would happen if they tried it in New York?
